On Monday 11/1 we made the three and a half mile hike up the mountain to Targette, after riding over very bumpy roads in the back of a dump truck from St. Marc. to Gilbert. The Haitian welding crew was finishing putting up the trusses which they had constructed on sight. Angle iron and a generator/welder were carried by hand up the mountain. Although we had three days to do the job, we did it in two days in order to get off of the mountain before the rains from hurricane Tomas might make the journey more hazardous, or even impossible. We worked by flashlights for about an hour to finish the job on Wednesday.
Wednesday 11/3/10: We near completion. |
Tuesday 11/2/10: Haitians complete the addition of purlins as we begin to attach the galvanized steel roofing |
Monday 11/1/10: Haitians welding the trusses in place |
